The inevitable has finally caught up with me, and who am I to resist fate? The blogging community just couldn't keep its wonderfully grimy paws off of me, and so, here I am. Welcome to my little corner of cyberspace, if you'll excuse the cliche.
Ben Thomas is the name, and, well, whatever the frak I feel like is the game. Hope you'll stick around to find out. Mainly, I plan to review the latest television shows, movies and current events I find interesting, a task for which I am extremely............. Well, I'm looking forward to it.
The supremely under-appreciated and excellently produced series 'Battlestar Galactica' will be a frequent topic; I feel it's time the rest of you are educated about the fine work Ronald D. Moore and Co. are doing!
Other areas of interest include: Flop of the Week (a segment in which I review a disappointing series, film or episode that has caught my eye), Ben's Watch-List (details what I'm currently addicted to, and yes, there are quite a few things these days) and whatever else I come up with as I go along!
So far as a first post goes, not too shabby if I do say so myself.
And 'So Say We All'.

Hey Ben,
Great job with the blog. I love the design! :) Do you have any theories on the final Cylon? In my opinion, it must be a female because that would match up with the 12 Olympians- 7 gods and 5 goddesses. Probably Carolann Adama (Bill's ex-wife) or Kendra Shaw (from Razor). Either one would fit the hybrid's prophecy: "And the fifth, still in shadow, will claw toward the light, hungering for redemption that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering." The only problem with the prophecy is that it’s so vague it could almost apply to anyone. Still, Carolann would work because 1) Leoben said it himself- “Adama is a Cylon.” And 2) She needs redemption from a dysfunctional marriage, alcohol addiction, and rocky relationship with her kids, Lee and Zac. Interestingly enough, that would make Lee and Zac both hybrids, and possibly the metaphorical Cain and Abel of Earth. If so, does that make Bill and Carolann like Adam and Eve? Only time will tell. On a different note, Kendra Shaw would also fit the prophecy because of her need for redemption. As Admiral Cain’s XO, she (under orders) killed innocent civilians during the controversial Scylla incident. Hence, she is plagued with guilt, and desires the forgiveness offered by the original Hybrid at the end of Razor. What do you think?

so say we all
Season 4.0 comes out on DVD 12/30/08, and Season 4.5 premiers in early '09.
I can't wait, I'm definitely pre-ordering my copy! I actually found out a few weeks ago, check out galacticasitrep.com, they're a wonderful source of info on all things BStarG!
In response to your Final Fifth speculation, I personally am crossing my fingers for either Ellen or Kat. Both fit the prophecy, both were much more than simple guest stars or day-players, and both would have the emotional punch-in-the-gut that we're all crossing our fingers for.
Ellen presents no continuity problems, (save the fact that she's dead, though Kara certainly broke the mold on that rule) however, Kat may. Her reaction to the radiation in The Passage is uncharacteristic of Cylon physiology, but this could simply be explained away by the obviously fundamental differences between the Final five and the Significant Seven.
Guess we'll just have to sob on the floor in a pool of our own blood and drool like good 'ol Bill Adama until January 2009!
haha... True to that! :) But I've found that waiting for something makes it all the more special in the end. Anyway, nice speculations. The devil is in the detail, and you've got a good eye for that.
Too true, too true.
I'm just drooling in speculation over the spoilery images I had the pleasure of viewing in a wrap video created for the cast and crew detailing the last few days of filming. There's a whole Raptor-full of set-spoilers and such that'll keep me busy until Jan.
